Variables in Prophecy
An island in the sky, shrouded in mist and clouds.
Lush greenery filled the view, with layered forests covering the land. Majestic palaces were nestled among the mountains and rivers.
Several cranes fluttered their wings, dancing slowly before alighting on the ridge of a golden hall, using their long beaks to preen their feathers. Suddenly sensing something, they spread their wings and flew away.
An old man with the hair of a crane and the face of a child, holding a horsetail whisk, walked slowly and stopped beneath a pine tree.
"Elder Xu."
Two young attendants hurriedly cupped their hands in salute.
The old man gave a slight nod and followed the two attendants towards the golden hall.
Inside the hall, it was nothing like the quiet and peaceful scene displayed outside. Instead, there was an indescribable chill.
It was as if one had entered a ghost cave.
On the ground, piles of bones lay scattered. Crows pecked at rotting flesh, their crimson eyes gleaming with ferocity.
Caw! Caw!
Seeing people enter, several crows took flight, letting out shrill cries as they swooped down to attack.
Elder Xu lightly flicked his whisk, and several crows turned into bloody pulp.
The remaining ones, frightened, scattered and flew out of the great hall.
Elder Xu looked at the gloomy, ghostly palace. Even with his power, he felt a chill run down his spine.
Deep within the palace.
A disheveled young man with a frenzied expression was crouched on the ground, incessantly carving something.
Suddenly, arrays of strange, glowing patterns appeared, flickered with light, and then dissipated.
"Failed... impossible!"
The young man gritted his teeth, red veins appearing in his eyes, his appearance growing more terrifying.
"Witch Immortal."
Elder Xu saluted and spoke respectfully.
Looking at the young man, Elder Xu's expression, though outwardly unchanged, was secretly filled with shock.
Reversing age and returning to youth... it was actually true!
It wasn't merely the restoration of a youthful appearance, but a genuine return to youth.
"Xu Kang."
The young man addressed as the Witch Immortal grinned, revealing sharp teeth, his expression taking on a strange quality: "What do you want from me?"
"That divination..." Xu Kang began softly.
Although the Witch Immortal was now mentally unstable, his mastery of divination had only grown more profound.
Twenty years ago, it was precisely his divination arts that had allowed the Immortal Palace to survive an impending catastrophe.
The Witch Immortal grinned and laughed: "It's all in chaos! The hexagrams are all in chaos!"
"What?"
Xu Kang's eyes showed a flicker of astonishment.
"According to the original hexagrams, the barrier would be broken in three years, and we would fully enter the mortal world. But now, something has gone wrong. Everything has changed."
The Witch Immortal grinned, revealing an eerie smile.
Xu Kang pondered and said slowly, "Could it be because of that girl with the Heavenly Yin spiritual vein?"
He clearly remembered that the Witch Immortal's previous divination had stated that the Heavenly Yin spiritual vein was an unpredictable variable!
A prophecy from a thousand years ago claimed the Heavenly Yin spiritual vein would be a calamity for the immortal sects. He wasn't entirely sure whether that was true or false.
But it was better to believe it exists than to dismiss it!
That girl still needed to be guarded against.
"It's not just the Heavenly Yin spiritual vein. There is another variable," the Witch Immortal said gravely.
Xu Kang quickly cupped his hands: "Witch Immortal, please instruct me."
The Witch Immortal stood up, his pupils contracting as he pondered: "Past, future... future, past!"
As he spoke, an unnatural flush appeared on the Witch Immortal's face. He opened his mouth and sprayed out a mist of blood, his entire demeanor wilting noticeably.
"Witch Immortal!"
Xu Kang hurried forward to support him, saying urgently, "I am dull-witted. Please, Witch Immortal, give clear instruction!"
"I cannot see it clearly either. There is a variable whose thread of fate has already changed."
The Witch Immortal said, his face pale.
It was as if an ethereal mist shrouded this world, making everything obscure and bewildering.
Xu Kang sighed softly and said slowly, "What about eradicating the Asura Sect..."
The Witch Immortal looked up and said coldly, "Go back and report to your master. The root of the problem lies with the Asura Sect."
"Yes!"
Xu Kang nodded, his expression turning grave. He saluted: "I shall take my leave first."
The Witch Immortal sat cross-legged on the ground, a bloodthirsty gleam in his eyes. He licked his lips and said faintly, "Go. And call those two boys outside the hall in on your way."
"Very well."
Xu Kang seemed to anticipate something and replied respectfully.
"Hmm..."
Shangguan Qianqian slowly opened her eyes.
What met her gaze was an unfamiliar environment.
A simple yet cozy little wooden cabin. Judging by the elegant decor, it seemed to be a young woman's boudoir.
Clatter!
A bowl fell, water spilling across the floor.
A little girl of about four or five years old, seeing Shangguan Qianqian awake, showed delight on her face and immediately ran outside: "Master! The big sister is awake! The big sister is awake!"
"Hey—"
Shangguan Qianqian wanted to call out to the little girl.
But the girl had already run off happily.
"Is this... an immortal sect?"
Shangguan Qianqian held her forehead, slightly surprised, trying hard to stay clear-headed.
She was a reincarnator. Naturally, she knew what would happen to the immortal sects three years later.
Perhaps now was the chance to stop this war.
In the past, she might have been able to watch indifferently.
But now, as the deputy sect master of the Asura Sect, she couldn't just stand by and watch the Asura Sect walk into a pit of fire.
"Young lady, you're awake."
A beautiful woman who appeared to be around thirty years old swayed her figure as she walked slowly into the room.
The woman's looks could be called peerless. A cinnabar-red dot between her eyebrows, like a flame, accentuated her aloof demeanor.
A thin layer of purple veil covered her face, hinting at delicate features beneath.
Shangguan Qianqian's pupils contracted. She instantly recognized this woman. An indescribable chill assaulted her, making her shiver.
Heavenly Palace, Fairy Qinghong!
Green Oriole Pavilion.
"Bitch, let go of me!"
"Shut up!"
"Let me go!"
Protector Yang's face was icy as she escorted Tang Qingqing.
She was already in a terrible mood after the flowers she'd nurtured for a year had been stolen.
Unexpectedly, during her patrol, she had caught a suspicious woman.
Dressed in strange clothing, with a terrible temper to match. Several times, she had barely held back her fist.
"Behave!"
Protector Yang said impatiently.
This woman had some skill, but at the peak of the Transformation Realm, she was clearly no match for her.
Tang Qingqing gritted her teeth, her eyes darting as she thought of a way to escape.
Just arriving in this strange world and getting captured was not good!
She still couldn't figure out why she was the only one who had come here.
Could it be because of the black pendant?
"Are you a spy from the Hundred Ghosts Sect?" Protector Yang asked sternly.
"Hundred Ghosts Sect?"
Tang Qingqing was slightly surprised. Did this world have a Hundred Ghosts Sect too?
"No, sister. I just accidentally wandered in here. I didn't know this place was off-limits. Can you make an exception and let me go?" Tang Qingqing asked, putting on a pitiful expression.
Protector Yang said coldly, "No. We'll investigate your background first."
"Hmph." A glint flashed in Tang Qingqing's eyes.
"Sister-in-law? What are you doing here!"
At that moment, An Yi, who had just stepped out, saw this scene and couldn't help showing surprise.
Why was Tang Qingqing here?!
"An Yi!"
Tang Qingqing saw An Yi and immediately broke into a smile.
If An Yi was here, did that mean she would see Bai Xiu soon!
