Hunt Begin
"Hey, why did you run off?"
An Yi walked to the stream, washing his face stained with foul-smelling saliva, while calling out to Long Aoxue inside his storage space.
This girl left without a word—he almost got eaten by a leopard!
Of course, his calls were useless.
The silver dragon continued sleeping peacefully, completely indifferent to the outside world.
Then, An Yi took out a spirit core from the level-three leopard he had just hunted and tossed it at the dragon’s head.
As if sensing it, Long Aoxue opened her eyes, caught the core in her mouth, and swallowed it.
"Hey, Dragon Girl, how about five level-four spirit cores in exchange for a night with me?"
An Yi chuckled as he asked.
Long Aoxue nodded.
An Yi pondered for a moment. "But we need to set some ground rules. First, you have to wear clothes when you come out! Second, you can’t return to the storage space until I wake up! And third… well, I haven’t thought of the last one yet, but that’s it for now."
"Okay."
Long Aoxue agreed without hesitation.
Spending a night with this man in exchange for ten spirit cores? In her simple worldview, there was nothing wrong with that.
An Yi shook his head inwardly, sighing.
This girl’s understanding of the world was too naive. He needed to educate her—otherwise, she might run off one day and get tricked by some scoundrel.
Before he could finish washing his face, a fish with jagged teeth leaped from the water, aiming straight for his head.
"Screech!"
The fish let out a shriek before being sliced in half by a blade of air.
"Only level two, huh."
An Yi sighed softly, flicking his fingers. The air blade precisely extracted the fish’s spirit core, which landed in his palm.
Level-four demon beasts weren’t as easy to find as he’d thought.
Most were level two or three.
But An Yi didn’t dare to be as reckless as when he first arrived, fearing he might attract too many beasts and lose control of the situation.
He really didn’t want to run around naked wearing a mask again—it would tarnish the glorious image of the Asura Sect’s leader.
"Where to next?"
Standing atop an ancient towering tree, An Yi gazed into the distance and murmured.
After completing his mission, he needed to leave as soon as possible.
But for now, the priority was finding level-four demon beasts.
Lost in thought, a massive serpent silently slithered up behind An Yi, its jaws widening as it lunged for a bite.
An Yi turned, slashing with the air blade he had been gathering in his hand.
The serpent was struck, a wound splitting its gaping maw as it recoiled in retreat.
"Oho, level four!"
An Yi grinned, excitement flashing in his eyes.
Ding! [Hunt] Mission Progress: 1/100.
Pulling out the serpent’s spirit core, An Yi sighed.
At this rate, it really wouldn’t be finished anytime soon.
After the level-four serpent was slain, the remaining level-two and three serpents scattered in panic.
"Are these things pack hunters?"
An Yi frowned in suspicion.
Moreover, the level-four serpent seemed to be the leader.
Once it died, the underlings fled like frightened birds.
Stretching his limbs, An Yi leaped down from the towering tree.
"Time to hunt!"
Six enormous lions charged across the plains, their ferocious auras enough to make a man’s courage fail.
Behind them surged an overwhelming tide of beasts.
In the distance stood a hastily built wooden palisade.
Compared to the six bloodthirsty lions, the flimsy wall might as well have been made of paper.
Soldiers stood atop it, gripping their spears with trembling hands, their pupils shrinking in terror at the approaching beasts.
This was the feeling of death drawing near.
The beast tide had come too suddenly—and it was more terrifying than any before.
The six lions at the forefront radiated overwhelming pressure—all level-four demon beasts!
Level-four demon beasts!
That was enough to slaughter an entire city.
"Men! Today, we must hold back this beast tide! Your parents, wives, and children are behind us! Use your blades to protect their safety!"
A middle-aged man clad in armor, clearly a commander, raised a greatsword and roared.
"Defend the Wei Family!"
The soldiers shouted in unison, their eyes filled with grim determination.
They all knew they wouldn’t survive.
Their only goal was to buy time—to stall the beasts long enough for their families to escape.
The armored commander, Wei Feng, took a deep breath, steadying his nerves.
He was a Void Realm expert within the family!
But the six lions before him were all level-four.
Could he really hold them off?
"Yunyun… forgive your father."
Wei Feng’s eyes glistened with tears as he clutched a crudely carved wooden doll—a gift from his six-year-old daughter, who had asked him to come home for dinner.
But he likely wouldn’t make it back.
"They’re here!"
The soldiers braced themselves, weapons at the ready as the beast tide crashed forward.
The lead lion stood ten meters tall—its head alone dwarfed the wooden wall.
Wei Feng gritted his teeth and swung his greatsword.
This lion’s strength was immense, likely having been a level-four beast for years—far beyond what a Void Realm beginner like him could handle.
Why would beasts of this caliber appear at the forest’s edge?
Shouldn’t they be deep in the heart of the wilderness?
And the behavior of the other beasts was strange too.
All kinds of creatures, even natural enemies, ran together in chaotic panic.
Panic?
Wei Feng frowned in confusion.
But there was no time to think—the lead lion’s massive paw swung down toward the wall.
"I’ll handle this!"
Wei Feng slashed his sword at the lion’s paw.
Clang!
The strike blocked the attack—but Wei Feng himself was sent flying like a broken kite, smashing through a wooden barricade.
Clutching his chest, Wei Feng’s face turned ashen.
The enemy was too strong. They wouldn’t even be able to buy time.
Would these beasts really overrun the Wei Family?
Enraged by the strike, the lion let out an earth-shaking roar.
The soldiers couldn’t withstand the sheer force—many swayed on their feet, nearly collapsing.
"Hold the line! Damn it, HOLD!"
Wei Feng bellowed through gritted teeth, clutching his chest.
But how could mere Dark Force and Transformation Realm warriors withstand a level-four beast’s might?
Roar!
The lion bared its fangs in a cruel grin—
Then its paw was severed mid-swing!
Blood sprayed through the air!
Wei Feng: "…"
All the Wei Family disciples stood frozen, staring in shock at the sky.
There, hovering midair with flames swirling around his feet, was a strikingly handsome young man.
"Run! Let’s see how far you can get!"
An Yi grinned to himself, baring his teeth as he eyed the six massive lions ahead.
