Soul-searching Technique

Stepping out of the Law Enforcement Bureau.

An Yi patted Chen Bing on the shoulder. “Glasses, follow me!”

“My name is Chen Bing!” Chen Bing pushed up his black-rimmed glasses and said.

Without another word, An Yi led Chen Bing to a secluded, dimly lit grove.

“What do you want to ask?” Chen Bing asked, putting some distance between them, pushing up his glasses.

“You’re always pushing your glasses up—doesn’t your nose hurt?” An Yi asked seriously.

Chen Bing’s voice was cold. “No, it doesn’t.”

“Oh, I just pulled you over because I wanted to ask—how are things going with Tang Xiaoya now?” An Yi said earnestly.

Chen Bing’s tone turned icy. “Why do you care?”

“As the leader of the Asura Sect, it’s necessary to care about the mental and physical health of our members. What if you turned out to be… you know, a ‘g’!?” An Yi said with a straight face.

Chen Bing’s hand pushed at his glasses, veins bulging and trembling slightly.

At that moment, An Yi glanced toward a corner at his waist, his expression suddenly serious. “The person left?”

Chen Bing nodded. “The Law Enforcer we were monitoring, named Hong Lu, has just left.”

“Phew, these women from the Law Enforcement Bureau really are a handful,” An Yi said with a grin.

“If only all these girls were like Yan Zhi, honest and straightforward,” he added.

“We’re all being watched. The number of assassins is unknown. We have to be extra cautious moving forward,” Chen Bing said thoughtfully.

“The enemy lurks in the shadows, while we stand in the light. We don’t even know how many enemies there are.”

“Facing relentless sieges from the world’s top assassins, no matter how strong, even the best warriors can’t hold out forever.”

“If only there was a way to infiltrate the Paradise Organization from within.”

An Yi pulled out a demon mask from his storage space and toyed with it thoughtfully.

Actually, he had an immature idea.

But it might just be worth a try!

“Planning to take on the Paradise Organization head-on?”

Chen Bing raised an eyebrow and asked.

“To say ‘decisive battle with the Paradise Organization’ would scare outsiders to death.”

“But Chen Bing knew An Yi truly meant it.”

“How’s the Northern Border situation?”

An Yi toyed with the mask, asking calmly.

“We’ve already reached a cooperation agreement with the Northern Soviet Elephant Corps!” Chen Bing replied leisurely.

An Yi slowly put on the ornate yet terrifying demon mask. A wave of solemn killing intent radiated out.

“Chen Bing, I need you to head to the Northern Border. I’ll handle persuasion with the Temple of the Gods, the Dao Alliance, and the Law Enforcement Bureau.”

After hearing this, Chen Bing smiled, cupping his fists respectfully. “Understood!”

---

Outside the prison gate of the Law Enforcement Bureau headquarters.

Hongtian shook his head, trailing behind An Yi with a bored look. “What do you want me to do this time?”

“Can you still read minds?” An Yi asked.

“Come on, with my current strength, that’s impossible!” Hongtian shook his dog-like head and denied it.

An Yi pondered, “What would it take?”

“Maybe two more Level 4 Spirit Cores?” Hongtian guessed.

An Yi showed a sinister smile and grabbed the dog leash.

Hongtian hurriedly said, “Hey, hey, really, I’m not extorting Spirit Cores! I just need two more Level 4 ones.”

“Fine, I’ll get you what you want!”

An Yi looked at the Law Enforcement Bureau’s main gate and said calmly.

Inside the prison.

Jiang Cheng sat on the chair, legs crossed in the classic “second brother” style, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest. Beneath the half-long strands of gray hair hanging over his forehead, his eyes were lazily narrowed.

An Yi was whistling absentmindedly, wearing a guilty expression as he stared up at the ceiling.

Inside the cage was a large black dog, panting as it gnawed on a spiritual core.

Hongtian was chewing away, feeling touched at the same time.

He’d always thought this guy was a stingy human beast, but today he was surprisingly generous—he actually gave him three Level 4 spiritual cores!

Right now, An Yi’s image in his mind had completely flipped; he was no longer a stingy human beast.

Three Level 4 spiritual cores!

That’s a big move!

Clearly someone who’s destined for great things!

“Hey, An Yi, what kind of dog are you? You actually need ten Level 4 spiritual cores?”

Jiang Cheng felt a chill run down his spine and raised an eyebrow. “You absolutely have to get this done for me. The Enforcement Bureau only has these ten Level 4 spiritual cores. If you fail, Han Tuzi will come after me with everything he’s got!”

An Yi sneered, “Cheapskate, it’s just a few spiritual cores! Your mindset is too small.”

“But I see your dog only ate three cores?” Jiang Cheng said thoughtfully.

An Yi replied righteously, “You don’t understand. After using this ability, the dog’s body can’t hold up and needs continuous nourishment to recover. The remaining seven cores are basically useless.”

Jiang Cheng:

He vaguely felt like he’d been played.

At that moment, a flash of light flickered across Hongtian’s body!

It hiccupped and said aloud, “Almost ready, let’s go!”

The gate opened!

Inside, a big bearded man shivered, thinking he was about to be sent to the morgue.

When he saw a one-eyed black dog, he was dumbfounded.

Suddenly—

Hongtian transformed into a magnificent giant wolf, its massive body taking up nearly half the space in the cell.

Wolf? Dog?

Who cares about the difference!

A powerful sense of oppression surged forth, making the big bearded man tremble in fear, stepping back a pace, wetting his pants.

“Look me in the eye!”

Hongtian pressed its canine head against the big man’s skull.

The big man didn’t dare slack off and squinted one eye, locking eyes with the fiery red single eye.

Hongtian:

Damn it!

How dare you mock my one eye?!

A buzzing sound—

A swirl of black flames rose up, enveloping the big man completely.

After a long while, the black flames dissipated, and the big man collapsed weakly to the ground.

“Is he dead?”

An Yi raised an eyebrow.

Hongtian shook his head, “No. With my current ability, I can only use the most primitive soul-search technique to forcibly seize his memories. Now, he’s memoryless.”

Jiang Cheng smiled, “Good, so it wasn’t a waste of ten spiritual cores!”

“Ten cores?”

Hongtian blinked in surprise.

An Yi hurriedly said, “Quick, Hongtian, pass the big man’s memories to me!”

Hongtian said seriously, “It’s painful. You have to hold on!”

An Yi wore a cocky grin, “I’m the head of the Shura Sect!”

“Ahhh!!”

A piercing scream echoed through the cell.

Jiang Cheng frowned deeply and covered his ears.

Not long after,

An Yi staggered out, wiping the saliva off his clothes, gritting his teeth as he grabbed Hongtian’s leash. “Damn it, how can it hurt this much!”

“I told you, it’s going to hurt a lot!” Hongtian said with a teasing tone.

Watching this guy suffer was damn satisfying!

An Yi gritted his teeth.

If it weren’t for his immortal martial body, the mental shock just now would have been enough to turn him into a drooling fool—twice over!

Something’s off!

An Yi raised an eyebrow. “There’s a gap in the memory.”

Hongtian explained, “Definitely. I used soul-searching technique to extract three-quarters of the memories, but by the time I passed them to you, only half remained.”

An Yi sifted through the memories, a smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

Luckily, it’s nothing serious. The key information is all intact.
