He is really a miracle doctor
In the Qifeng Valley, the He Family was not the sole dominant force; there were three other prominent families—the Xu Family, the Feng Family, and the Zheng Family.
These four clans had resided in Qifeng Valley for countless years, maintaining close-knit relationships.
After all, intermarriage between them was common, and upon closer inspection, they were practically all relatives.
But this time, the other three families weren’t here for a family visit. They had come because they heard that the He Family had brought an outsider into Qifeng Valley.
They were here to demand answers.
The He Family's Ancestor frowned slightly, surprised by how quickly the three families had arrived, though he wasn’t particularly worried.
For years, Qifeng Valley had been plagued by a mysterious illness. If this problem could be resolved, everyone would surely rejoice.
"Old He, what’s the meaning of this?"
"Don’t you know the rule here—no outsiders allowed?"
"Your family actually dared to bring a stranger in?"
"Are you looking down on the rest of us?" the Xu Family's Ancestor asked sternly.
Meanwhile, the Feng Family's Ancestor and the Zheng Family's Ancestor both turned their gazes toward Chen Chang'an. With only a cultivation level at the first stage of the Golden Immortal Realm, he posed no real threat.
But rules were rules, and no one was allowed to break them.
"You’re the outsider?"
"I don’t care how you sweet-talked the He Family into bringing you here."
"Nor do I care what your purpose is. Leave Qifeng Valley immediately."
"And you’d better not breathe a word about this place to anyone. Otherwise, don’t blame us for being unkind," the Zheng Family's Ancestor said coldly.
Hearing this, Chen Chang'an sensed that Qifeng Valley must hold some secret—why else would they be so desperate to keep it hidden?
Could it be… a refuge?
All four families had Immortal King-level experts, yet they were still this cautious. Their enemies must be formidable indeed.
"You’re really sure you want me to leave?" Chen Chang'an asked with a faint smile.
"Absolutely."
"Best leave right now."
"Fine."
"In that case, I won’t impose any longer."
Chen Chang'an stood up to leave, which immediately flustered the He Family's Ancestor. He hurriedly stepped forward and grabbed Chen Chang'an’s arm.
"Great Physician, please don’t take offense. These three old fools are just stubborn and don’t know the full story. Please don’t hold it against them."
"You’re a man of great virtue, after all—far above petty squabbles, right?"
"Your magnanimity is vast enough to encompass heaven and earth."
"You wouldn’t stoop to their level, would you?"
The He Family's Ancestor’s words filled Chen Chang'an with satisfaction. Yes, this was the kind of praise he liked to hear!
"Old He, what kind of nonsense are you spouting?"
"Calling us stubborn fools?"
"What exactly do you mean by that?" The three other ancestors glared at the He Family's Ancestor in fury.
"Am I wrong?"
"Do you even know who he is?"
"Do you know his status?"
"Do you know why he’s here?"
"No, you don’t. Yet you’re here spouting nonsense."
"If that’s not stupidity, what is?" the He Family's Ancestor retorted angrily.
"Who is he, then? What’s his status?"
"What, is he your father? Or your grandfather?" Old Feng’s taunt turned the He Family's Ancestor’s face green with rage, but he suppressed his anger.
"Let me tell you."
"This man is a Great Physician—the foremost in the Ancient Immortal Domain."
"Though his cultivation may not seem impressive, his medical skills are unmatched."
"Our He Family went through great pains to find him and begged him to come here."
"And why?"
"For the sake of curing the strange illness plaguing Qifeng Valley!"
"Do you understand my good intentions now?"
"Instead of thanking me, you come here to throw your weight around?"
"Have you no conscience?"
The He Family's Ancestor’s words stunned the other three. A Great Physician? Someone who could cure the illness?
Chen Chang'an glanced at the He Family's Ancestor. He had to admit, this old man’s face was nearly as thick as his own—spouting such bold claims without shame.
"You’re saying he can really cure the illness?"
"What proof do you have?" the Zheng Family's Ancestor asked skeptically.
"Proof?"
"He’s already cured two members of our He Family!"
"My great-great-great… grandson was saved by him."
"My great-great-great-great… grandson was also saved by him."
"Do you really think I’d lie about something like this?"
The three other ancestors eyed Chen Chang'an with suspicion, their expressions practically screaming, "We don’t believe a word of it!"
Excuses!
This had to be Old He’s way of covering for his family’s transgression of bringing an outsider in.
That had to be it.
If even Immortal Kings like them were powerless against this illness, how could some brat at the first stage of the Golden Immortal Realm possibly succeed?
What a joke!
"Listen to yourself. Do you even believe what you’re saying?"
"Do you think the three of us are idiots, easily fooled?"
"We’ve studied this illness for years and still can’t even identify its cause, let alone cure it. And you expect us to believe he can?"
"Alright then, let’s see. Tell me, do I have any illnesses?"
Old Feng sneered at Chen Chang'an, thrusting his wrist forward. He wasn’t actually asking for a diagnosis—he was mocking Chen Chang'an, waiting for him to embarrass himself.
"Very well, let me take a look."
Chen Chang'an placed his fingers on Old Feng’s pulse and concentrated. He sensed no trace of the Death Dao’s power within him.
It seemed that while the Death Dao’s influence was potent, it didn’t affect everyone.
Ordinary mortals, lacking cultivation, were of no interest to it.
These ancestors, being too powerful, were difficult for the Death Dao to infiltrate.
Only those of middling strength were the unlucky ones.
"Well, boy? Do I have any illnesses?" Old Feng asked with a cold laugh.
"You don’t have that particular illness."
"Hahaha! Is that because I don’t have it, or because you can’t tell?"
"You don’t have the strange illness, but… you do have other problems."
"For someone of your cultivation level, it’s surprising you still suffer from… impotence—"
"Enough!"
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
"I’m human—I don’t even have a tail!"
Before Chen Chang'an could finish, Old Feng’s face darkened, and he cut him off, quickly changing the subject.
"Old Feng, he didn’t even finish his sentence. Maybe he wasn’t talking about a tail?"
"At your age, you shouldn’t avoid treatment out of embarrassment," Old He said with a sly grin.
"I’m done with this."
"He already said I don’t have the illness." Old Feng hastily withdrew his hand.
"So, you admit his medical skills are exceptional?"
"I admit no such thing!"
"Then perhaps we should return to the topic of your… condition."
"Ahem… I take it back. His skills… are indeed impressive."
