Chapter 95: Surprises from Blind Boxes Are Normal, Right?
This trip netted me another Magic Power Source, a pretty good haul.
I still wasn’t entirely sure about the true value of a Magic Power Source, but Senior Deng Xiaohan gave it up so readily it felt almost too easy.
And it seemed like the Magic Power Sources used by seniors to guide freshmen came from their own pockets.
If these things were really expensive, wouldn’t that mean guiding a freshman would cost them a bit of their own strength?
But that wasn’t something I needed to worry about.
Sister Bai had mentioned before that freshmen didn’t have much need for Magic Power Sources.
Some didn’t even realize until half a semester in that you could have multiple ones.
Though this might involve issues with information dissemination, it suggested that Magic Power Source trading wasn’t very common.
Freshmen probably didn’t have access to channels for obtaining them either.
Regardless, the more Magic Power Sources I had, the better.
They sped up Witchification and increased my mana cap.
I was someone with two spells and multiple alchemical items now having a few extra Magic Power Sources wasn’t too much to ask, right?
So, in the following time, I began a carpet-style search.
Only after I started using the location feature in the Academy System did I understand why the seniors hated this mandatory activity.
And why Senior Deng Xiaohan was willing to pay a Magic Power Source to pass it off.
I had thought the location feature would be precise, but after zooming in on the academy map, it turned out to be just a general area where you had to figure things out yourself.
I stood on the street, watching the bustling crowd, and fell into deep thought.
This place didn’t look like it had any lost girls, er, I mean, freshmen who hadn’t completed their procedures.
Quan Xiuzhu’s experience had left such a deep impression on me that I instinctively assumed my targets would be like her.
In reality, the people I was looking for might just be wandering the streets, aimlessly buying snacks or shopping.
After all, they were people, not vagrants.
They’d buy food when hungry, find a place to stay at night, and ask seniors for help when in trouble, but they wouldn’t actively seek me out.
I wandered around for half a day, even mustering the courage to ask several people before finally confirming my target.
This girl had arrived at the academy early.
Like the others I’d met, her guiding senior had ditched her halfway.
She had only registered her enrollment and picked up a phone and room card but hadn’t gotten her student card or the four-piece bedding set.
When I found her, she was shocked and even “ratted out” other freshmen with similar experiences, allowing me to exceed my quota in one go.
Honestly, this was disappointing.
The freshmen I wanted to find weren’t supposed to be like this.
I was eager to find those weak, pitiful, helpless little cuties.
Ideally, ones curled up in a corner waiting for me to find them.
After helping these students, I only felt exhausted.
It was like opening blind boxes.
I knew I wouldn’t find my ideal target, but I still hoped for such an encounter.
So, I locked onto another target, the closest one to me.
This will be my last one for today.
The senior registering me even praised me for being the most proactive.
But when the navigation led me to the entrance of a villa, I fell silent.
I lost the bet again.
If they were already living in a dorm, they probably didn’t have many procedures left to complete, right?
I politely stood at the door and rang the bell.
After pressing it several times, I finally heard some movement.
If I weren’t so mindful of privacy, I would’ve used Spirit Vision to see what the person inside was doing.
Their enrollment procedures weren’t complete, yet they were chilling so comfortably in a villa?
As the door opened, an impatient voice came from inside.
“Who is it? I didn’t order any magazines, and deliveries go in the mailbox!”
I looked at the older girl who walked out.
Her clothes were thrown on haphazardly just a top, with her bare, pale thighs exposed to the air.
I couldn’t help but swallow hard.
Her aura, the overwhelming pressure, and the terrifying number of Magic Power Sources radiating from her this was a senior!
“Uh… I’m here to guide freshmen through their procedures.”
I forced myself to speak, feeling like if I didn’t have a good reason, this senior might beat me up.
I glanced at my phone again to confirm the location.
The central area was definitely here…
Could a freshman be living with a senior?
“Huh? They even found you here? You’re a freshman too, aren’t you?”
The senior’s expression softened after hearing me, losing some of her earlier impatience.
She looked me up and down before speaking again.
“Y-Yes. Could you tell me if you know where the freshman who hasn’t completed their procedures are?”
I mustered my courage to ask.
From her tone, it seemed she knew something.
If she was willing to tell me, I’d be incredibly grateful.
“She’s with me. Geez, I’ll go get her,” the senior said, scratching her head and adjusting the edge of her clothes that were caught by her underwear before turning back inside.
“Really? Thank you so much, Senior. Sorry for the trouble,” I said excitedly, surprised by how cooperative she was.
I had thought she might brush me off, citing her senior status.
As I watched her go upstairs, I took a quick glance at the first floor’s layout.
It was similar to my place, with a faint scent of aromatherapy in the air.
I hadn’t understood before, but now I realized this aromatherapy had some incense-like effects, though not very strong.
Soon after, the senior came back downstairs, dragging a figure and walking straight toward me.
“Here’s your person,” she said, shoving the petite figure toward me.
I quickly caught her.
I was utterly shocked by this move.
The petite girl was wearing a halter-style, semi-sheer dress that leaned heavily into provocative territory.
Calling it “leaning” was an understatement.
With its black, semi-transparent gauze and large exposed back, was this really appropriate to wear?
The girl seemed unconscious, limply leaning against me.
The smooth skin of her arm brushing against my neck gave me goosebumps.
“S-Senior, what’s going on here?”
My shock couldn’t even be described as an earthquake in my pupils.
I could only helplessly look at the senior in front of me.
“Oh, she was originally a guy. Didn’t have any clothes to wear,” the senior said with a casual laugh.
“I didn’t have any unworn clothes either, so the only unused piece I had was the one she’s wearing.”
“Then… What about her original clothes?”
“Oh, she couldn’t accept it for a while and tore them up.”
Her casual tone made it sound like she was talking about something trivial.
“Well, thanks for the trouble, Senior. I’ll get going…”
Feeling the pressure, I hurriedly said goodbye, ready to bolt.
This senior was too terrifying to stay around any longer, or I might end up stuck here too.
So, I adjusted my hold on the unconscious girl and prepared to run.
“Wait! I’m not done yet,” the senior’s words stopped me in my tracks.
“You’re a sensible person. For a boy, this kind of thing is hard to accept. She’s just been tamed for a few days, so she should be pretty docile now. If she wakes up and does anything extreme, come find me. Here’s my card.”
“T-Thanks, no need to trouble you further,” I said, reluctantly taking the fancy business card she handed me.
After accepting it, I carried the petite girl away in a princess hold.
As for where to go?
Naturally, the nearest women’s clothing store.
Why a women’s clothing store?
Because Witch Academy had no men and no men’s clothing.
