Chapter 87: Comforting the New Housemate
“No need to take off your shoes.”
After Dongli Yiren stepped inside, her eyes were filled with uncontainable curiosity as she looked around.
But when I saw her instinctively reach to remove her shoes, I stopped her.
I wasn’t sure why maybe it was a habit?
Anyway, it didn’t matter if she kept them on.
Whether it was Little Workhorse or me using a spell, cleaning could be done quickly.
These days, I've gotten quite skilled at the Cleaning Spell.
Large-scale cleaning was no problem, especially with the help of my Magic Wand, which made it quick and effortless.
“Is that so? But the shoes don't fit. I’ll take them off.”
Dongli Yiren quickly responded but insisted on removing her shoes, revealing her small feet.
I could even see the marks the shoes had left.
They clearly didn’t fit her properly.
But shouldn’t the real issue be that she wasn’t wearing socks with those shoes?
“You’re right, then take them off. The villa’s pretty clean anyway I tidy up regularly,” I agreed quickly.
I had to admit, the women’s leather shoes on her feet really didn’t suit her.
“By the way, if I may ask, those clothes you’re wearing… they’re not yours, are they?”
“Um… have you ever seen a guy with a skirt?”
Dongli Yiren tugged at her skirt’s hem, seemingly unbothered by discussing this topic.
I thought she’d be as guarded about it as Quan Xiuzhu was.
“Fair point,” I nodded in agreement, but I still wanted to learn more about her since we’d be housemates for years.
Getting to know each other early on was important.
“So, I was wondering, that senior called you Dongli Yiren. Should I call you that, or something else? Oh, let me introduce myself. I'm Yang Yuehan, but you can call me Little Han.”
“My original name was Dongli Yiren Ugh, whatever I guess you can call me Dongli Yiren. Names don’t really matter.”
Dongli Yiren said, trailing off as if resigned.
She pulled out her student ID from her skirt pocket.
“It’s already on my student ID anyway. This Witch Academy is damn annoying.”
“Well… Witch Academy’s actually not that bad,” I said softly, trying to comfort her.
“But I was supposed to go to Holy Angel Academy! That’s one of the Three Great Top-tier Academies. And now… now look at me! How am I supposed to face my parents like this?”
“This…”
For a moment, I didn’t know how to respond.
So, she was a top student and my apologies for underestimating her.
Holy Angel Academy.
I knew a bit about it.
Big Sister Bai had sent me a link to the Imp Academy’s Academy System, and I’d looked through it.
Though I only checked out a few academies, the top three were listed first, so I had some knowledge.
The extraordinary academies in this world weren’t exactly saintly, at least not from my past-life perspective.
“But even if you went to Holy Angel Academy, you’d end up becoming a Holy Angel. You might grow wings, feathers, and shed them too. Holy Angels don’t have genders; they're usually androgynous. Imagine losing your male parts and turning into some effeminate figure. That wouldn’t be great either, right? At least at Witch Academy, you look like a girl on the outside.”
And no need to worry about pregnancy, I added silently in my mind.
“Huh? How do you know all this?”
Dongli Yiren listened carefully to what I said.
After all, this kind of information wasn’t available outside.
So, when she heard it, she froze, looking at me with a mix of disbelief.
“It’s in the Academy System. It’s common knowledge for new students entering extraordinary academies. They wouldn’t lie about something like this.”
“Then what about Wizard Academy.”
“Come on, there’s no going back now. Does it matter where you went? Even if you hadn’t been dragged to Witch Academy, Holy Angel Academy’s a trap too. All extraordinary academies are traps; it's the price of pursuing extraordinary power. You think Wizard Academy’s some pure place? No way,” I said with a smile, continuing to explain.
I wanted her to let go of those pointless fantasies.
Wizards might be human, but they pursued absolute rationality to achieve extraordinary power.
Casting aside trivial emotions and sentimentality, they adhered to pure logic in their quest for truth.
Some even abandoned their humanity to embrace.
The atmosphere there was cutthroat.
She might be a top student, but everyone admitted to the Three Great Top-tier Academies was a top student.
Could she outsmart others in scheming?
Not necessarily.
Witch Academy had a much better vibe.
I could even slack off at a bakery here.
Would a Wizard Academy student dare think that way?
“Phew Sorry I can’t accept this all at once. Can I have some time to calm down?”
“Sure, take a seat on the sofa for now. Once you’ve thought it through or stopped thinking about it you can go upstairs and pick a guest room for your bedroom.”
I didn’t push her to face reality directly but hinted at it through practical matters, like choosing a bedroom.
Once she focused on that, it’d mean she was starting to accept her situation.
Once she let go in this area, the rest would follow naturally.
“Pick a bedroom?”
Clearly, my words caught Dongli Yiren’s attention.
“Yeah, this is the academy-assigned dorm. If you don’t pick a bedroom, are you going to sleep on the floor? Besides, more people might move in later. They’ll probably be freshmen like us, maybe even with experiences like yours,” I continued to explain.
I had to tell her this.
Though I wasn’t sure if future housemates would have similar experiences, who couldn’t paint a rosy picture?
At least I could give her hope over time, there’d be others like her to keep her company.
She should just accept it.
People in the same boat tend to bond.
But I wouldn’t admit that outright.
I’d just watch the drama unfold.
This girl was already wearing women’s clothing the moment we met whether by choice or not, she’d have plenty of days in women’s clothing ahead.
But didn’t she pick up the freshman four-piece set?
Seeing that Dongli Yiren wasn’t responding, I decided to ask directly.
If she didn’t talk, I’d start the conversation.
“By the way, didn’t the senior who brought you here take you to pick up your gear? The freshman four-piece set, I mean. I don’t see you carrying anything.”
I avoided mentioning the uniform, as she might think it’s women’s clothing and refuse to get it.
It wasn’t exactly women’s clothing, but explaining that would take effort, so I just asked directly.
“What’s the freshman four-piece set?”
Dongli Yiren genuinely didn’t know.
“The cape, hat, Magic Wand, and Badge School Emblem. They’re all alchemical items, very valuable. You don’t want to miss out on free stuff for freshmen!”
Clearly, the word “free” was a big draw, as it finally piqued Dongli Yiren’s interest.
“This where do I get them?”
Dongli Yiren hesitated for a moment before asking.
