Chapter 36 : Was the Academy Attacked?
Supernatural energy-infused items were quite common in this world, but many were high-end luxury goods.
These included, but weren’t limited to, various plant fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs, and even basic materials imbued with supernatural energy.
Most were either plants or animals that matured in environments saturated with supernatural energy or were deliberately grown in such conditions.
In the end, they all became luxury items sold for their supernatural energy content.
Personally, I thought it felt a bit like a scam.
Not long ago, there were marketing campaigns for high-energy materials.
Did people really think supernatural energy was inherently beneficial?
Weren’t they worried about energy radiation shortening their lifespan or something?
But I also knew that some supernatural items did produce special effects under the influence of supernatural energy.
That was undeniable.
Some artificially induced plants required supernatural energy to grow, and their fruits were genuinely beneficial to the body.
But those were the minority.
Most were either harmful or had no effect at all.
You couldn’t expect supernatural energy to kindly enhance your physique or cure diseases—that was wishful thinking.
At best, supernatural energy entering the body would dissipate harmlessly.
At worst, it could cause devastating internal injuries, landing you in the hospital or straight to the crematorium.
Looking at the recipe book, many ingredients were ordinary, but some recipes included high-energy materials—those infused with supernatural energy.
I pulled out my phone to check.
They were indeed edible.
But some high-energy materials were crossed out, likely by Senior Tang.
From her handwritten notes, it seemed she thought including them was practically sabotage…
Had she tried them and gotten sick?
I hoped not.
Flipping further, I noticed many pages had notes.
With so many errors, how was this book even published?
Wouldn’t it mislead people?
I browsed the recipe book with interest, occasionally reading Senior Tang’s snarky comments.
They were way more entertaining than the actual content.
Time passed as I did so.
No strange customers came into the shop, and no big orders like yesterday’s showed up on the delivery system.
But Senior Tang was taking a while.
It shouldn’t take that long, right?
Were the ingredients she needed scattered far apart?
Or was she off hunting for more bizarre materials to turn into pastries?
The thought sent a chill through me.
The taste from this morning felt like it was creeping back up.
With only me in the shop, I felt a bit worried, but being alone also meant I could do whatever I wanted!
My gaze drifted to the exquisite cakes in the display case—each one priced beyond my reach.
With just me here, and the surveillance technically under my control…
If I gave in to temptation, those luxurious desserts, usually so out of reach, were practically mine for the taking.
In the end, I didn’t let my greedy hands touch them.
I had a feeling I’d get chewed out if I did.
Those were the shop’s showpieces, placed in the most prominent spots.
Even though I could eat during lunch, I didn’t dare touch those.
I had some emotional intelligence, after all.
As I lounged boredly at the counter, I felt a low, rumbling vibration.
I stood up immediately, wondering if I’d gotten up too fast.
This place wasn’t on a fault line, was it?
But the shop’s items seemed fine, no shaking.
A hallucination?
No way.
The Witch Academy was in another dimension.
Even an earthquake shouldn’t reach here. Could it be some senior sisters duking it out?
That was the only explanation I could think of.
I went to the shop’s entrance and saw people from nearby stores standing outside, looking curious, as if wondering what had happened.
So it wasn’t a hallucination—something had actually happened.
I looked up at the sky.
It was still blue with white clouds—perfect weather.
Several senior sisters were already flying up on brooms, heading in one direction, making me jealous.
Something must’ve happened at the academy.
A gas explosion?
No, no, this was Witch Academy.
If anything, it’d be a magic explosion.
And after that vibration, there was a muffled roar, like it came from the sky.
I looked at the broom-riding senior sisters heading in one direction.
They probably knew more than I did.
Without hesitation, I activated my Spirit Vision to look their way.
Instantly, my view changed.
The academy’s streets seemed to overlap with another city—I knew this must be Modu, the city overlapping with Witch Academy.
But what shocked me speechless was the scene in the sky!
A massive semicircle dome covered the entire Witch Academy, blocking out the sky.
The outside world seemed shrouded in blinding light.
It was an overwhelming flow of energy, with complex and terrifying information overwhelming my senses.
This was definitely an unknown supernatural energy I’d never encountered!
And it wasn’t just one type of energy—this one was leading a clash of forces.
The scene outside looked like an apocalyptic judgment.
Even the high sun seemed affected, turning from warm, harmless light into a scorching, terrifying fireball.
Vast, unknowable information from the Inner World assaulted my mind, making everything in my vision blur with a mosaic-like distortion.
It reminded me of when I was a baby, opening my eyes full of anticipation only to see a terrifying world.
Unknown and eerie.
I quickly shut my eyes.
This was something I’d never touched before, an incomprehensible, higher level of immense supernatural power.
I couldn’t process or filter out the anomalies, and my brain couldn’t convert it into understandable information, resulting in the blurry mosaic in my vision.
If I didn’t exit Spirit Vision soon, my head would ache all day.
After exiting, I looked at the still-beautiful blue sky and white clouds, feeling a bit dazed.
That scene lingered in my mind, overlapping with the sun.
The stimulation kept tugging at my nerves, nearly pushing me to an emotional breakdown.
“What was that?”
I pressed my hand to my chest, trying to calm my racing heart.
Just when I thought everything was fine without Spirit Vision, the sky shifted again.
This time, I wasn’t using Spirit Vision.
Has the situation outside affected the academy?
It had reached a point visible to the naked eye.

The gas explosion bit lmao. Ya sure there ain't any mythical spirits of the past and future fighting it out for a magical wish granting device?
