Chapter 29 : Staff Uniform

I looked at the contract in my hand.

Its contents were concise and seemed flawless, much simpler than a formal labor agreement.

I had no experience in this area, so I was naturally hesitant to sign.

“What’s wrong? Don’t trust the contract? Don’t worry, the contract’s contents are reviewed by the academy. If we tried to pull any tricks, we’d be more nervous than you. It’s just a part-time job contract—we wouldn’t set traps for you, or the manager would kill me!”

After the senior sister’s repeated reassurances, I finally signed my name.

As soon as I finished, the contract burst into flames, burning up in a flash of light, leaving not

even ashes behind.

It startled me.

At the same time, the entire contents of the contract appeared in my mind.

If I thought about it carefully, the details would surface clearly.

“Got a scare, huh? That’s how contracts work. You should have the contract’s contents in your head now, right?”

The two leisurely staff senior sisters stood beside me, watching as I completed the signing.

I had to say, not a single customer came in during this time.

How did they make money?

But I was more intrigued by the contract.

What incredible power!

If I could write hard-to-memorize knowledge points on a contract, wouldn’t I instantly remember them?

Unfortunately, I knew nothing about how contracts worked or if they could be used that way.

If it was possible, such a method would probably be widespread already, so I didn’t need to worry about it.

“By the way, I saw your signature. Your name’s Yang Yuehan, right? Let’s introduce ourselves.

I’m Ying Shiqian, and she’s Tang Yihan,” Ying Shiqian said with a smile, looking ready to keep chatting, completely forgetting it was work hours.

“I’m Tang Yihan. Just call me Senior Tang,” Tang Yihan added.

“Oh, you can call me Senior Ying too, Yang Yuehan. Got any nicknames that roll off the tongue? Xiao Yang, Yuehan, or maybe Xiao Han?”

“Just call me Xiao Han, senior sisters,” I quickly replied.

“Alright Xiao Han, hehe… Now you’re officially hired, so you should get your uniform and timecard. Remember to clock in each time you come, as your pay is calculated based on that. Don’t forget,” Ying Shiqian said, standing up, seemingly to prepare those things for me.

“By the way, are you free now? If you are, you can clock in and start working right away.”

“Free! Totally free!”

I nodded eagerly.

With no customers around, this was a perfect chance to milk some easy money.

Getting paid for doing nothing—what could be better?

Plus, there was a perk I hadn’t considered: employees could take home expiring bread, cookies, and other items!

And during shifts, meals were covered—though limited to what the shop offered.

As long as I wasn’t shy, I could eat the priciest stuff, provided I didn’t get caught by a sudden manager’s inspection.

This was practically a dream job… What more could I ask for?

Soon, Ying Shiqian prepared something like a work badge for me, which was used for clocking in.

The bakery’s hours were roughly from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and I could come in anytime during that period.

Though it was part-time, I needed to work a minimum number of hours per week.

It wasn’t much, but there was still a formal requirement.

My pay was based purely on hours worked, with no base salary or full-attendance bonus.

“Xiao Han, come here and pick out your uniform. If there’s a size that fits, you won’t need to get one custom-made,” Ying Shiqian said after handing me the badge, now busy with getting me a uniform.

Their uniforms were a reddish short-sleeved top, fairly standard, paired with a half-length apron that looked like a skirt.

It was nice, and changing into it was quick.

I followed Senior Ying to the changing room in the back.

The space was larger than it appeared from outside, with neatly folded uniforms stored in a cabinet.

“Senior Ying, why are there so many uniforms here?”

I asked.

What I really wanted to know was why there were so many sets for just two staff members, and in different sizes too.

“They’re leftovers from previous junior sisters who worked here. They’ve long since left, leaving these behind,” Ying Shiqian replied casually, opening the cabinet to rummage through it.

“I remember there was a junior sister with a similar build to you. Let me find it.”

I stood quietly to the side, not wanting to disturb her.

As for wearing uniforms others had worn, I had no issue with it. It was just for work, not everyday clothes.

I wasn’t losing out, especially since these were worn by senior sisters.

I hadn’t seen a single unattractive senior sister at Witch Academy, okay?

“Found it Xiao Han, try this on.”

I took the uniform.

It was clean, with no strange smells, and well-preserved despite being stored in a simple cabinet.

Under Spirit Vision, I could see supernatural energy flowing, probably some spell I didn’t know keeping it maintained.

“Thanks.”

I gave a quick thank you and started trying it on.

“Wait, I’ll grab a few more sets. Take your time trying them on. This cabinet’s yours for storing your work uniform from now on. I’ll head out”

Seeing her leave so quickly, I smiled knowingly.

The uniform was easy to change into, but I’d need to take off my top.

She probably thought I’d mind.

Senior Ying was pretty considerate, wasn’t she?

Soon, I changed into the uniform.

Tying on the half-length apron gave me a sudden urge to dive into the kitchen and get to work!

Though I didn’t know how to bake bread, I could cook.

Sadly, that skill was probably useless in a bakery.

I adjusted my collar.

The striking red uniform top, once on, felt a bit deeper in tone, almost like a burgundy.

But I seemed to be missing a hat.

I noticed Senior Tang was wearing one.

I stepped out of the changing room, my steps a bit hesitant.

After all, I’d only just met these two senior sisters, so wearing new clothes in front of them wasn’t as relaxed as with Bai Yu.

“Wow Xiao Han, you look great in it”

“Exactly, and I picked it out for her,” Ying Shiqian said, almost bragging.

“Hmph The uniforms are all the same style. What’re you taking credit for?”

“What’s wrong with taking credit? Yihan, go back to your dough.”
