Chapter 26 : Academy System Task Section

In the end, I decided to head out.

Staying at home was just too boring.

Compared to that, I wanted to explore the various sights of Witch Academy.

It was a pity that Bai Yu had slipped away last night.

I didn’t know what was so urgent, but it must’ve been something important, right?

I couldn’t force her to stay.

Even so, I’d only “unlocked” Snack Street on my map of Witch Academy so far.

Exploring this unfamiliar area on my own was giving me a headache.

After thinking it over, the only place that came to mind was the registration area from yesterday.

There were plenty of people there.

If there were enthusiastic senior sisters willing to help freshmen, that’s where they’d be.

I could just ask around once I got there, no problem.

Didn’t Bai Yu say those were academy volunteers?

Senior sisters responsible for guiding new students.

I wasn’t sure if it was a paid gig.

If there was compensation, I wouldn’t mind acting as a guide for freshmen despite being one myself.

After all, I was pretty familiar with the enrollment process since I’d just gone through it yesterday.

The only issue was I didn’t know how to infuse the magic power source into a new student’s body.

Even if I couldn’t be a volunteer, there’d be plenty of fun to watch there.

Seeing new students—especially those who were tricked into coming—cry and make a fuss was kind of entertaining.

What was even more amusing was watching boys turn into preparatory witches.

I finally understood why those senior sisters enjoyed doing it—I was starting to enjoy it too!

It was just too fun.

I just hoped those boys wouldn’t take it so hard that they’d want to end it all.

After all, being alive was so much better than being dead—at least, that’s how I felt now.

I took a bus to the registration area.

Since this was near the academy’s main gate, a landmark of the entire Witch Academy area, plenty of bus routes passed through here.

You could check them on your phone, and there was a real-time route display at the bus stop—kind of like a QR code alternative.

Strictly speaking, it was still morning, but I’d spent a lot of time getting ready, so I hadn’t had time for breakfast.

I was a bit hungry, but skipping one meal wasn’t a big deal.

By morning, the registration area was already bustling with senior sisters, even though there weren’t many new students enrolling yet.

Early arrivals were, after all, just a small portion.

“New student, what brings you here?”

Perhaps because I was standing too close, a senior sister spoke up directly.

Seeing that I was already wearing a witch cape, she naturally assumed I’d already registered.

“Hello, senior sister. I’m a new student who enrolled yesterday. Is it okay to ask a few things?”

I asked politely.

Since no new students were around at this hour, she seemed free, and since she’d spoken first, I figured I’d take the chance to ask what I wanted.

“Of course. I’m free right now, so ask away,” the senior sister said with ample patience, setting aside what she was working on to look at me.

“Well, does the academy have any rules or regulations about part-time jobs? I just got here, don’t know much, and I’m short on cash, so I’m thinking about finding a part-time job.”

Yes, my first question was about part-time jobs.

If there was a shortcut, I didn’t want to go door-to-door asking shops if they needed temp workers.

“The academy doesn’t have strict rules about part-time jobs, and there’s no mandatory requirement. So you’re looking for a job, right?” the senior sister said, thinking for a moment before answering.

She hadn’t really considered part-time jobs herself.

“Yeah, pretty much. I’m kind of broke, especially after falling out with my family.”

“I see, you had a falling out with your family…”

Hearing this, the senior sister seemed to imagine a whole drama, her tone becoming much warmer.

“So you’re looking to make quick money? Actually, the academy has plenty of ways to earn cash. Looking for a part-time job might be… the slowest option.”

“Lots of ways?”

Her words made my eyes light up.

Making money?

No shame in that.

I immediately put on an eager, friendly attitude, lowering my posture and even letting my voice get a little cutesy—though not too much, or it might backfire.

“Um, senior sister, could you tell me about some of them?”

“Tell you about them? That’s a bit much to say. For new students like you, it’s just a matter of not knowing yet. The simplest way is through the Witch Academy system. It has tons of functions, including but not limited to checking periodic grades, course schedules, class assignments, academy tasks, and so on.”

“I see…”

I quickly pulled out the academy-issued phone.

It didn’t have many apps, but the Witch Academy system was pretty prominent.

“Oh, right, make sure to link your student card to share your personal info, or you might not be able to log in,” the senior sister added, as if remembering something.

“Just place your student card on the back of the phone to sync it. The system will automatically update your info. If you link it wrong, you can change it in the settings.”

“Okay… got it.”

I busied myself opening the Witch Academy system.

Its various functions were neatly organized and easy to navigate.

“Found it? There’s a part-time job section under academy tasks. It lists a lot of posted jobs. At least the ones there won’t scam you. If someone posts a fake or misleading task, you can report them and even get compensation.”

“Oh Found it! Thanks, senior sister”

Once I found it, I immediately used a sweet tone to thank her.

Seems like everyone fell for that.

“Good, anything else you want to ask?”

“Yes, yes! Um… I was wondering about the volunteers who guide new students. Is there compensation for that? Are there any requirements to sign up?”

I quickly followed up with another question.

If I could take on guiding new students during enrollment, I could brag about it for ages.

Even if it was unpaid, I’d probably try it a few times for fun if I had the time.

But I could only do it for fun a few times—making money was still the priority.

“New student, your train of thought is something else, huh? Volunteers are, well, volunteers. They’re unpaid, at least not with money. It’s an academy-issued task. You can find it right in the task system—it’s clearly marked. But unfortunately, you don’t even meet the signup requirements.”

The senior sister seemed amused by my question, her smile unhidden.

She leaned back slightly, looking at me with interest.

“Requirements? What kind? Is it about infusing the magic power source into new students?”

Hearing there was no pay, my enthusiasm dropped by half.

The other half was because there was still fun to be had, though it probably wouldn’t be my turn.

As for the requirements, the only thing I could think of was that.

I couldn’t even control the magic power in my own body yet—how could I infuse a magic power source into someone else?
