Chapter 25 : A New Day

Xiao Han woke up?

That was Bai Yu’s first thought, but she quickly realized that she hadn’t set her phone to silent, and the notifications she sent would have triggered a sound on Xiao Han’s phone.

Bai Yu covered her face with one hand.

Careless…

Meanwhile, in my bedroom, I was woken up by the damn phone notifications!

I should’ve been dead asleep, but the relentless alerts made it impossible to stay that way.

Groggy, my first instinct was to check on Bai Yu.

If I was woken up, she probably was too, right?

But when I reached out, the bed was completely empty—she was gone!

My mind was screaming, She’s gone! I even lifted the blanket to check if Bai Yu was hiding underneath, only to realize how ridiculous that was after doing it.

I must’ve been half-asleep.

But the phone notifications kept ringing, instantly reigniting my long-dormant morning temper!

Who the hell was it?!

I grabbed my phone… dead battery…

My first thought was my old phone, since I didn’t have many contacts on the new one.

So it was the new phone causing trouble?

I tossed the old phone aside and picked up the new one, checking it in the early morning light.

The messages were still piling up.

It was… Bai Yu… Bai Yu, as in… Bai Yu?

What the heck?

Why was Bai Yu sending me messages in the middle of the night instead of sleeping next to me?

Had she been kidnapped or something?

Regardless, I opened the chat interface and turned down the notification volume.

Though it was a new phone, I could figure out the basic operations with a bit of tinkering.

I scrolled to the top of the messages.

The first part was an apology, saying she couldn’t stay and sleep with me because she had important things to do.

I read it with a blank expression.

Honestly, Bai Yu not sleeping with me seemed kind of nice?

Feeling the big bed, though a bit empty, was honestly great for sleeping alone.

The rest of the messages were a detailed list of precautions and tips for daily life.

There were even small details about living as a girl, which I found incredibly helpful.

But it also felt like such a hassle.

Was being a girl really this complicated?

And this didn’t even include periods!

All I could say was, I’d try my best.

The only thing I really cared about was self-care, right?

Who doesn’t want to look pretty?

Beauty is justice!

Like right now—staying up late was bad for my health.

After confirming Bai Yu wasn’t sending more messages, I sent a quick reply.

Then I lay back down.

Without Bai Yu in the bed, I could be as reckless as I wanted.

I’d been so cautious with my sleeping posture before, but now I just sprawled out in the most comfortable way possible.

Why not?

Morning.

As the sun rose high, my consciousness stirred.

I grabbed my phone out of habit to check the time.

It was already past eight.

Seeing the time, I felt a pang of panic.

Back then, my internal clock would never let me wake up this late.

But thinking about last night’s events and the early morning messages, sleeping in made sense.

I scratched my head, a bit dazed.

My hair was a mess in the morning—probably because I wasn’t used to this lifestyle yet.

There was nothing to do today.

Maybe I could find a part-time job somewhere?

After a quick wash-up, I spent a ton of time brushing my hair.

The feeling of the comb getting stuck was so frustrating!

I couldn’t bring myself to yank out the tangles, so I had to go slow, which took forever.

In the end, I only managed a simple, slightly crooked ponytail.

I really needed more practice…

Heading downstairs, I saw that smart housekeeper thing wandering around on the floor again.

When it noticed me, it somehow knew who I was and greeted me.

“Good morning Master.”

“Morning,” I replied half-heartedly.

By now, I’d changed out of the sleep robe into something simpler, closer to a JK-style outfit.

A light-colored blouse on top and a checkered mini-skirt below.

As for stockings… I didn’t wear any.

They felt nice, but they got dirty easily and snagged.

Bare legs were fine too.

I threw on the witch cape, but skipped the witch hat.

Its distinct look made it a bit awkward to wear, and I wasn’t used to hats anyway.

Carrying it around would be a hassle.

So, of the witch’s four-piece set, I only wore two: the cape and the badge.

The badge had a fireball spell on it, though I still didn’t know how to use it.

When I went to the snack stalls with Bai Yu yesterday, I noticed many senior sisters wore their witch capes and badges.

Some even kept their witch hats on.

If only I had a spatial item to store stuff in—I could carry the witch hat when I didn’t need it and stow it away when it got in the way.

I also wondered when my magic wand would be ready and delivered.

I’d left my address and name, so they wouldn’t send it when I wasn’t home, right?

Oh well, I’d leave it to fate.

There was still plenty of time before the official start of school, and the academy wouldn’t delay that long.

Plus, there was a designated spot for mail and deliveries in front of the house.

I’d just check it regularly.

Today’s plan was simple.

I came to the academy early to get used to academy life, right?

And to adapt to living as a girl before my new roommate arrived at this villa.

As for the fact that I used to be a boy, I wouldn’t bring it up.

I didn’t know how others would view it, and I didn’t want to put myself in a tough spot.

Also, if I could find a stable part-time job, that’d be great.

The money from my old job was probably only enough for food around here.

This was Witch Academy—if they asked me to pay for anything, I’d be broke.

As I was about to head out, I started overthinking the shoe situation.

I’d gone out last night, so I knew Bai Yu had prepared some feminine shoes for me.

But honestly, I was used to durable sneakers.

Things like little leather shoes or high boots felt awkward to wear.

Though, paired with women’s clothing, they did look good.

Today wasn’t the day for flashy outfits since I was looking for a part-time job.

Getting these clothes dirty would be a pain.

Oh, right—I hadn’t washed yesterday’s skirt yet… Ugh, it felt like there was a pile of stuff to do.
