Fellow Daoist Gu is my savior
Not long after, several dazzling streaks of light streaked across the distant starry sky, heading toward the sinister Yin Sha City.
Moments later, the streaks of light fell like rain, brilliant as shooting stars, illuminating the entire Yin Sha City.
They were a group of young men and women—the men handsome and ethereal, the women graceful and otherworldly—all dressed in pristine white robes, riding the wind as if they were immortals.
The leader among them was particularly striking, with sharp brows and bright eyes, a golden star tattooed between his brows, exuding an air of nobility as if he were a banished immortal descended to the mortal world.
"Senior Brother Sima, this is the place Junior Brother Bai mentioned in his message," one of the male disciples said to the man with the golden star between his brows.
Senior Brother Sima stood with his hands behind his back, his white robes fluttering in the void, his piercing gaze fixed on the eerie and terrifying Yin Sha City.
He remarked indifferently, "No wonder Junior Brother Bai went missing for days. It turns out he encountered Yin Sha City. The infamous Yin Sha Madam is a notorious star pirate in these parts, often preying on lone cultivators. Junior Brother Bai was simply unlucky this time."
At this, one of the disciples laughed and said, "Senior Brother Sima, if you ask me, the one truly unlucky here is the Yin Sha Madam."
"Oh? What do you mean?" another chimed in, playing along.
"No matter how infamous the Yin Sha Madam is, what can she do against our Senior Brother Sima? She’s as good as dead. Don’t you think she’s the unlucky one?"
Another added, "Killing her would be a waste. I’ve heard the Yin Sha Madam has a stunning figure and face. She might just barely qualify as Senior Brother Sima’s concubine."
"Hahaha, not a bad idea. Senior Brother Sima could 'educate' her day and night, helping her repent and turn over a new leaf."
The topic of women made the male disciples burst into laughter, while the female disciples pretended to be shy, playfully scolding them.
"Enough jokes. Saving Junior Brother Bai is our priority. All of you, step back. I’ll handle this," Senior Brother Sima said calmly.
The others quickly retreated to a safe distance.
Just then, a figure rushed out of Yin Sha City.
It was Bai Yunhe.
"Senior Brother Sima, hold your attack!"
"It’s Junior Brother Bai!"
Bai Yunhe flew to the group and greeted them with a smile. "Greetings, senior brothers and sisters."
"Junior Brother Bai, weren’t you captured by the Yin Sha Madam? How did you escape?"
Bai Yunhe quickly recounted how Gu Qingfeng had saved him.
Senior Brother Sima’s eyes glinted with interest. "Oh? This man single-handedly defeated the Yin Sha Madam? He must have some skill. What’s his cultivation level, and does he have any backing?"
Bai Yunhe shook his head. "He looks no different from a mortal—no discernible cultivation aura. As for his background, I spoke with his adopted son earlier. He seems to be from the Star Extreme Immortal Dynasty."
Senior Brother Sima’s interest deepened. "The Star Extreme Immortal Dynasty? The Star Extreme Immortal King is already dead. It’s only a matter of time before they’re swallowed up. But that technique to conceal one’s cultivation is quite intriguing."
As he spoke, the golden star between his brows emitted a faint glow, enveloping Yin Sha City in golden light as he scanned it.
The light soon faded, and he remarked indifferently, "There’s no trace of a Golden Immortal’s undying aura in the city. Whoever defeated the Yin Sha Madam, a late-stage Mystic Immortal, must be at the peak of the Mystic Immortal realm."
His tone was casual, as if a peak Mystic Immortal was nothing noteworthy.
And indeed, he had the right to be dismissive. As the chief disciple of the Stellar Transformation Immortal Sect, his cultivation had long reached the peak of the Mystic Immortal realm. He could have broken through long ago but chose to delay it to strengthen his foundation.
Because of this, his cultivation foundation far surpassed that of ordinary peak Mystic Immortals. Combined with the several supreme divine abilities he had mastered from his sect, there were few in the Mystic Immortal realm—aside from the prodigies from Immortal King factions—who could even catch his eye.
Defeating a mere star pirate was hardly an impressive feat. Calling them "star pirates" was generous—they were nothing more than rogue cultivators with no backing.
For core disciples of major sects, those at the same cultivation level were all elites, capable of easily defeating rogue cultivators of the same realm and even challenging those above them.
If the immortals of the Sixth Star Ruins were divided into tiers, the lowest would be the rogue cultivators with no sect or backing.
Above them were the immortals from minor sects. Though occasionally, one or two extraordinary talents might emerge, they were exceedingly rare.
The true elites belonged to the major sects, enjoying resources far beyond the ordinary, learning rare secret techniques and divine abilities, and possessing combat prowess that far outstripped their peers.
As for the very top, they were undoubtedly the Immortal King factions. Core disciples or those with Immortal King bloodlines were practically born at the summit, heights others could never reach in their lifetimes.
The Stellar Transformation Immortal Sect was the top faction just below the Immortal King forces. Any disciple they sent out could stand alone as a formidable expert, and this man with the surname Situ was the best among them.
"By the way, Senior Brother Situ, my savior, Daoist Gu, wishes to ask you all for some information. Would you mind accompanying me?" Bai Yunhe said.
At this, one of the Stellar Transformation Immortal Sect’s male disciples sneered, "Senior Brother Situ of our sect is here, and this man dares to ask us to come to him?"
Bai Yunhe smiled. "It’s not a demand—just a way to repay his kindness for saving my life."
The disciple wanted to argue further, but Senior Brother Situ stopped him.
"No matter. Let’s meet this Daoist Gu. By the way, I’ve heard the Yin Sha Madam has amassed great wealth from her years as a star pirate. Junior Brother Bai, where are these treasures now?"
Bai Yunhe thought for a moment. "Since Daoist Gu killed the Yin Sha Madam, the treasures must be in his possession."
The disciples of the Stellar Transformation Immortal Sect exchanged glances, greed flashing in their eyes.
One of them suggested, "Our Stellar Transformation Immortal Sect is a righteous sect. Such ill-gotten gains should be returned to their rightful owners. Why don’t we take them back to the sect and wait for the victims to claim them?"
"A fine idea."
"Agreed."
In truth, they all knew the Yin Sha Madam was a ghostly immortal with brutal methods—she not only robbed but devoured her victims, leaving no survivors. Who, then, would come forward to claim the treasures?
With no rightful owners, where would the wealth go? The answer was obvious.
"Junior Brother Bai, since Daoist Gu is your savior, you should handle this matter."
Bai Yunhe paled. "Senior Brother Sima! He saved my life!"
"Oh? Since when do you care about saviors?"
"Daoist Gu rescued me in my darkest hour. His kindness is as vast as the heavens! It’s like he gave me a second life!... But I’ll need more compensation."
"How much do you want?"
"Double my share after this is done."
