It's Exactly What You Think

The blizzard-like flurry of sword light gradually dissipated.

Gu Qingfeng sheathed his Nili Sword and turned to Nangong Xue, who was still lost in its profundity. "Well?" he asked.

Nangong Xue snapped out of her daze, her expression complicated as she met his gaze. "I lost," she admitted.

A roguish smile curled Gu Qingfeng’s lips as he stepped closer to the ice-cold beauty. "Then the wager..."

Nangong Xue took a deep breath, resolve flashing in her eyes. "A bet is a bet."

With that, she tightly shut her eyes, as if resigned to her fate—though the faint tremble of her lashes betrayed her inner turmoil.

Gu Qingfeng was surprised. Despite her frosty demeanor, this woman kept her word without hesitation. He had half a mind to let it go, but if she was honoring the agreement so earnestly, wouldn’t backing out now make him the dishonorable one?

Ah well. It wasn’t as if the great Gu Qingfeng was one to break his word either.

A man’s promise was unshakable.

Leaning in slowly, he watched as Nangong Xue grew increasingly tense. Even with her eyes closed, she could feel his presence drawing near, her breath hitching in anticipation.

"You—you cheated!" Nangong Xue fumed, her chest heaving.

In her naivety, she hadn’t anticipated... this kind of trick.

Gu Qingfeng feigned innocence. "Did we ever specify the terms?"

"You shameless scoundrel! I’ll kill you!" She drew her Frostblade Sword, poised to strike.

"Now, now. I’m the only one who can save your master. Kill me, and she dies too."

Nangong Xue froze.

Gu Qingfeng pressed on. "Besides, a bet’s a bet. Are you really going to renege?"

After a fierce internal struggle, she reluctantly lowered her sword.

Just then, a startled cry rang out nearby.

"What are you two doing?!"

Nangong Xue shoved Gu Qingfeng away as if electrocuted, a faint blush coloring her usually pale cheeks.

Both turned toward the voice.

There stood Ling Fei'er, her face a picture of shock.

She was utterly speechless, her worldview crumbling at the sight before her.

Her aloof senior sister... actually... with Gu Qingfeng?!

And of all people, the man she herself had been trying to win over!

Rage, hot and suffocating, surged through Ling Fei'er.

Memories flashed through her mind—every slight, every injustice. She loathed Nangong Xue with a passion.

Everything had always gone her way. The master favored her. The juniors revered her. The disciples admired her. She was the sect’s holy maiden, wielding the Frostblade Sword.

And now she even dares to steal my man?!

So what if Gu Qingfeng was a scoundrel? So what if I don’t even like him? He was still my first! I haven’t even secured him yet, and you’re already cutting in?!

"Junior Sister, it’s not what you think—" For the first time, panic flickered across Nangong Xue’s face.

Gu Qingfeng, however, remained unbothered. If anything, he looked delighted. "Oh, it’s exactly what you think, Fei'er. Perfect timing—come show her how it’s done. Her technique is nowhere near as good as yours."

The sheer audacity of his words left Ling Fei'er momentarily stunned.

Nangong Xue stiffened, her eyes darting between them in disbelief.

"You two...?"

"Yep. Just like you’re imagining," Gu Qingfeng said casually.

Nangong Xue’s eyes widened, her lips parting slightly in perfect, stunned silence.

Seizing the opportunity, Gu Qingfeng made his move.

Nangong Xue’s mind went blank. System crash.

Ling Fei'er’s mind also went blank. System crash.

She never expected Gu Qingfeng to have the gall to do this right in front of her.

"Ahhh!"

Snapping out of it, Ling Fei'er let out a shrill scream, stomped her foot in fury, and fled.

Nangong Xue, startled by the noise, broke free, hastily wiping her mouth with her sleeve before bolting as well.

Leaving Gu Qingfeng standing alone.
