Green liquid splashed onto my face, my hands, and around my neck.

While all that was happening, Lisa waited in the hotel lobby where the first-year students were staying.

As teachers and students alike panicked, she sat quietly in her chair.

When Luke finally appeared, she shot up from her seat and hurried toward him.

“How’s Gideon?”

“…There’s no point lying to you, is there?”

“You know me well.”

“Ha… It’s not good.”

Lisa trembled slightly at his reply, but she kept her expression as calm as she could.

“How bad is it?”

“The poison that got Gideon—it’s… according to the healers, an ancient toxin that disappeared hundreds of years ago. It doesn’t even have a name left. Its effect is to gradually shut down every organ in the body.”

“Then… does that mean he’ll die?”

“If he isn’t detoxified within about twelve hours, his life could be in danger.”

Lisa’s body began to tremble.

Luke spoke with a sigh, and Lisa trembled again.

Luke’s face, however, looked uncertain.

“Since they carry the poison, it’s possible they have the antidote as well… but I can’t be sure. They might just have the poison.”

“Can I get more information about that organization?”

“I just heard from Jason earlier. It’s a group called Rhaineus. They’re a rebel force that the Empire crushed decades ago, but apparently, they weren’t completely eradicated.”

Lisa bit her lip slightly and asked in a calm voice.

“What’s their purpose? I heard they kidnapped a third-year girl.”

“About that, even the Hawkbat Family doesn’t know. For now, they’re investigating, so we’ll just have to wait……”

“Wait?”

Lisa’s voice rose slightly.

“Gideon’s about to die, and you’re telling me to wait? What if he really dies while we’re waiting?”

After Lisa’s answer, Luke left the hotel.

Lisa stared at Gideon in silence.

He was breathing painfully.

Large patches of Gideon’s body had turned a dark green, nearly black.

It looked like he was decaying.

Lisa gently stroked Gideon’s cold face.

Then, she picked up her greatsword from beside the door and walked out of the hotel.

After Lisa left Gideon’s room—

“Woof?”

A small Hellhound peeked its head out from Gideon’s shadow.

“Woof! Woof woof!”

After checking on Gideon’s condition, Siri slipped out from the shadow and scurried under the bed.

She turned her head, scanning the surroundings—

“Woof!”

The small Hellhound dashed straight toward Gideon’s bag.
