The Main Character is very contradictory. Despite trying to present him as being very intellectual, He often acted without a single care about the consequences. I think what angered me about this novel is how the MC just never seems to actually think of any other character as a person, He treated them like they're all just NPC to him. Despite the novel trying so hard to make the MC saying things like "I'm a human" or "I'm part of this world"

@MyRAMEN said it best. This novel repeats the same formula every 5-20 chapters. "Barbarian appears, everyone's fearful, event happens, barbarian saves everyone, MC plot armor reasoning activates for staying still and not exploring the world which he repeatedly states is his goal, worse event happens, somehow everyone forgets the Barbarian existed, Barbarian saves everyone, Barbarian travels a bit." That's literally what happens every single time. ... more>> On top of that, all the characters he met along the way are essentially tossed into a back closet, gathering dust. The world-building is somewhat unreliable, and even after hundreds of chapters, we still know almost nothing about the White Snowfield. The MC has a System... kind of. I legit think the author just added a system-like thing just to add the tag. The MC claims he wants to "see the fantasy world", like an outsider looking in. The way he talks about it makes us readers feel like he'll take a non-interference approach, but he always ends up in the middle of things. That would be fine if his personality weren't so annoyingly frustrating. It's like reading about a thousand-year-old man with the personality of a five-year-old, in the body of a god. He only has 1 personality trait: Curiosity, which is tied to the reasoning of 'Fantasy = Good/Fun'. (Somehow these NU reviews like the MCs personality, but I just don't understand. I mean, it's not like it's horrible, but combined with the lackluster plot, it can get boring. I'd like to see more sides of him, but as of right now, he is incredibly 1-D.) He says that the thought of exploring a Fantasy world kept him going through all his suffering for who knows how long (probably hundreds of years), but what kind of suffering did he go through? We don't know. Why does he love fantasy so much? Well, he pretty much idolizes the thought of "fantasy", which he has basically defined as "anything outside of the White Snowfield". Mind you, the White Snowfield is in the fantasy world and is probably the most "fantasy" thing of all. In fact, all the forbidden zones (similar to the White Snowfield) are way more fantasy than everything else, but the MC exclusively refuses to explore them. We even see stuff like Magic Nanobots, which he claims is fantasy because it's in a fantasy world.... There's not really much logic to anything, whether that be the MC, plot, or world-building. There are also a number of things that I personally dislike, but I'll leave it at that. However, despite all my criticisms, if you read this novel in short bursts of 10-20 chapters, it's enjoyable. At least then, the quick repetitive nature of the novel is bearable. Edit (at Chapter 325) : I'll raise my rating to 3.8/5. The story starts to ramp up after around 200 chapters. If you liked the first 100-200 chapters, then it only gets better. We start to see more sides of the MC, learn more about the White Snowfields, and the scale of the battles gets bigger. The translator is also good. I just wish it didn't take so long to get to this point, but oh well. If the story continues like this, I can only imagine it getting better. <<less

Honestly, I liked the novel, but it got too tedious for me to read on anymore. The author has been milking the same formula on repeat plot structure every 7-9 chapters, which is about the length of one plot event arc. Barbarian appears, everyone's fearful, event happens, barbarian saves everyone, MC plot armor reasoning activates for staying still and not exploring the world which he repeatedly states is his goal, worse event happens, somehow everyone forgets the Barbarian existed, Barbarian saves everyone, Barbarian travels a bit. Then repeat... Over and Over AND ... more>> OVER!!! The main plot and secret mystery world background plot getting unveiled is solely what really saves the novel. Every character is extremely extremely predictable. Whenever it matters most, literally everyone forgets about the Barbarian. Whenever he appears, everyone is scared to their bones. MC contradicts all of his life goal plans that needs to be repeatedly said every few chapters. This novel is actually just a slow paced styled isekai where he becomes stagnant water rotting in one area, with fast paced plot events. Events and characters, and especially settings are introduced and forgotten. We literally went from things like s*ave pursued elves as first introduction to outside world, and afterwards there's zero mention of any s*avery, persecution, etc. He'll, we even got nanobots that randomly got introduced inside a fantasy world. MC with his whole personality built up as is, somehow can't mention a single thing about the white snow field, solely forced plot. This is because it literally contradicts his whole character Whenever things like this are brought up. He always dodges the questions, never answers, etc. If the author brought any amount of creativity into the repetitive copy pasta built on top of the spaghetti noodle characters, the story would've been really good. Sadly all we got is a very deliberately low effort story that only pursues to have enough attraction to make u read on rather than to love the story and read on. The forced childlike isekai minded MC was a huge detriment too. They made him a genius yet equally as braindead in other aspects. There's a lot more to complain on but I'm done yapping Final verdict is don't waste your time for frustration of reading this cracked gem <<less

At first it can be a bit boring and repetitive (not to the point of having to abandon the story, it just gets a bit tedious) but I can tell you that it has very interesting things, the MC does not hide his power and he does not have just one "calm" side, we can also see everything that affected him being in the snow zone, and he is very intelligent although he can take things very lightly and it seems that he does not take anything seriously. It is ... more>> a good novel to pass the time, there is no plot that makes you say "Wow" but you can read the chapters with emotion. Personally, I'm a fan of the MC. <<less

The protagonist is reasonable and in my opinion well written, he might not exhibit certain aspects one would expect of him but his unique perspective is interesting in itself. He feels more like a tourist sometimes which I don’t mind and his motivations is neither glory nor honor but simply the experience itself which is quite rare as other protagonist often struggle with finding convincing reasons to get involved here it is unnecessary as the protagonist actively seeks adventure not caring much wether it benefits him or not as long ... more>> as he can enjoy a great spectacle and be part or it. <<less

It's not a serious novel, more of a slice of life for a seriously OP MC. MC was a human who reincarnated or possessed? A barbarian in an area known as the White Snowfields. It was an extremely harsh environment, that for some reason he could not leave until he completed a certain amount of quests. MC spent an unspecified amount of time (centuries) in that region, and the only reason he could keep his sanity was due to the belief that once he escaped he could explore a fantasy world ... more>> unlike that of earth that had magic, divinity, spirits and what not. Once he is able to leave the White Snowfields, he sets out to explore all the facets of the world that he dreamed about. His mental state is questionable, centuries in hell-like landscape would do that. It's a good novel to read for a few laughs, it doesn't have a serious plot or a driving narrative. It's just an OP barbarian learning about social norms, and uncovering the mysteries around him. <<less

Has what so many others do, a good start... followed by burning it all to the ground for some bland pointless garbage. Hell scans been doing this a lot recently, I'm guessing these garbage novels are popular in their home countries? Maybe if its your first ever light novel and you are between 8-14 some of this might seem even excellent... cause most of them are very competently written.... the subject matter is just so inane. ... more>> Spoiler Main character gets sent to another world and is somewhat quest locked into a blizzard continent. He seemingly fights and levels up I guess over hundreds of years. We find out the outside world is a fantasy world, with low to beginner level stats on every one and everything. He escapes his blizzard prison and turns into a 11 year old tourist inside the body of a god. His hundreds/thousands of years of life mean nothing and are for all intents non existent to the plot... especially cause all of that was just backstory, we get to see none of it. what fing sh*t writing. Thank you helscans for adapting this novel (Surviving as a Barbarian in a Fantasy World) The novel is about our MC who likes the fantasy and magical world. That is why he read many types of fantasy novels and everything. To find about mystery and magic he left his job and became a explorer. Not only that he prayed to every god to reincarnate him or trasport to another world. At last one day he reincarnated into the another world as a barbarian Ketal in white snow field. I liked ... more>> this novel very much. There are many reasons for it 1. The MC is likable. Despite being the barbarian he is calm, intelligent. And he is a curious about everything related to this fantasy world. I can't say anymore because there are not more chapters but despite that the starting is good and story is good.I would recommend everyone to give it a read. <<less
